The Advanced Graphic Arts Class is involved in an authentic learning experience!

Amanda Yackobowitz is the team leader and Chellsie Heil is the second lead for my advanced graphics class. The class provides graphic services for the school district as well as the community. This class is learning how to create and run a business with the help of Paul Francis from Jr. Achievement. They will be learning to determine the cost of production and maintaining machinery in order to develop a price for the services. They will be keeping the financial books and determine where the money is to be spent. Jr. Achieve will be presenting a seven lessons on the economics of a business. They will also learn how to present themselves professional through the Jr. Achievements ethics program to be given by a local professional Linda Jankins, later this month. The Advance Graphics class will also begin to develop a Riverside store where they will sell riverside products that they produce such as license plates, coffee mugs, and t-shirts. The class will run like a real business with the only difference being that there will not be a profit made from the service and products. All money received will be used to replace materials and maintain equipment. The non profit business will give the students an authentic learning experience that will be invaluable to their future success. Along with Amanda, Ashley Beitz, Joelle Budd, Jaime Reviello, Donna Sherman, Marissa Gable, Breannah Jones, Arthur Kemler, Caitlin Moran Stephanie Puckett, and Dan Webb have all been working hard to make this class successful. Even students from other class have been coming in on their free time to help get things rolling, Sam Kunkelhaus, Vince Smigel, John Miles, and Joe Osmolia, are among those who have made a huge difference.
