What is $2 for Orphans? Christian Family Academy is asking each student and staff member to give $2 a month to help feed orphans in the Dominican Republic. Why are you collecting $2 for Orphans? The orphanage is struggling to pay all of it's bills and there are many days that the orphans go without food. If the orphanage can not feed the children it may have to close it's doors and put the children out on the street. Putting these orphans out on the streets of La Romana or back in the bateyes is a death sentence. How does $2 make a difference? If every student and staff member gives just $2 a month we can raise enough money to feed the orphans for an entire month. When are you collecting the $2? Once a month in Chapel. Normally it is the second Friday of each month unless there is another event occurring on that day. Please check the calendar page on the school webpage to find the exact date each month. Who gets the money that is collected? Hogar Jabez III orphanage in La Romana, Dominican Republic provides a Christian home, food, clothing and an opportunity to attend school for orphans who were living in a batey or on the street. Hogar Jabez orphanages are a ministry of Casa del Alfarero IBBC church in Lares, Puerto Rico. Can I give more than $2 a month? Yes! All of the money collected will only be used to buy food for the orphans. $2 a month will only provide very basic nutrition and does not provide for things we take for granted like milk or juice. Can other people give money to feed the orphans? Yes! Everyone is welcome to join us in supporting the orphans. Can I write a check? Yes, make the check payable to IBBC and in the For section write Hogar Jabez III.
