One of the best ways that you can help your child to become a better reader is to read with him or her at home. Choose a book that you will both enjoy! Before reading, predict what kind of problems the characters may encounter and how they will solve them. Discuss new and interesting words. Talk about parts that you really liked. Have your child reread his/her favorite sections. Reading at home helps to build your child's word knowledge, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension skills.
