Parents of freshmen and younger should pay close attention to what the State Board of Education and the HEC (higher education committee) is working on for our kids. I have included some of the links to the latest information so far.
Did you know that your child has to pass the HSPE in Reading and Writing and they have to pass the Algebra 1 or Geometry math tests to graduate? Your child will probably have more math classes than you or I had when we graduated. They certainly have to prove that they know more. Encourage them to do homework first. Students have to have 3 credits of math and pass one of the end of year math exams for the graduating class of 2013.
