Nov. 2-6

8B Lit.:  We will be discussing ch. 12-16 regarding Alfred's physical, emotional, and social growth vs. Harlem's digressing neighborhood.  The book needs to be completed by Wed., when we will discuss the choices that Alfred made that caused him to leave his neighborhood gang.  We will also hear the poem The Road Less Traveled by Robert Frost and discuss life's choices which determine our journey through life.  John Rathbun, an American Civil War re-enactor will be visiting on Thursday, and Friday the students will be enhancing their listening skills (and note-taking), as I read the non-fiction book STEPPING OUT ON NOTHING by Byron Pitts...a superb literary link to THE CONTENDER.

Nov. 9-13

We will be continuing with Byron Pitt's biography.  A note-check will be done after every five chapters, when a writing exercise will be given regarding the book.
