A Word from the MMS Band Booster President:    

    I would like to take a moment and explain the Band-A-Than. It is the annual fundraiser

to help support the band. You're student should receive a pledge sheet;

have them get pledges or donations from friends and family. These donations

help cover the cost for the band during the year (expenses such as the bus

rentals, the entry fees for the contests, purchase new instruments, repairs

on older instruments, purchase music, etc.).

    As a special treat to the students, we (the parents) help support the

band by assisting the FUN evening of the Band -A- Thon. This evening, Oct

2., starts after school and continues until 1:00 in the morning of Oct 3.

The parents sign up for different committees (music, games, security, etc)

to keep the kids busy and having a good time. All the while, the classes

have schedules when they must practice. There will be tons of food, drinks,

and fellowship for the different band grades to get to know each other.

We encourage all of the parents who can, to show up and participate;

whether scheduled or not! Just seeing the activities, and the fun the

students have is a sight to see!! Band is a unique "extra curricular" class

where it doesn't matter what grade you are in; YOU BELONG!!

     If you are able to volunteer for the night or part of the night, let me

know and I'll be happy to get you set up with one of the people heading up

one of the committees. Our next Booster Club meeting will be Tuesday, Oct

22, at 7:00. This will be in the band room. The focus of the Booster Club

meeting will SOLELY be on the Band-A-Thon! We will be dividing into the

committees and gearing up for the Fun fundraiser.

   Hope to see you all at the Booster Club meeting on Tuesday, Oct 22 at

7:00. Let's really support our kids at the Band-A-Thon and let them have a

great evening after they raise the money needed to support THEIR band!!
