Behavior Management Plan The Code of Honor: Chivalry in Action

 Our Code of Honor –
Chivalry in Action

Accountability Management Plan

Chivalry “Board”

Definition: “The combination of qualities expected of the ideal medieval knight, especially courage, honor, loyalty, generosity, and consideration for others”. As Christ’s’ Ambassadors, we are to exhibit these qualities even more than the medieval knights.

At the “Chivalry Board” there is a Pocket Chart. There are two pockets per student. Inside one pocket there are three colored cards for “Behavior”. Inside the other pocket is a card that shows a happy face and the word, “Homework”. All cards must be showing “Happy Faces” before a student may go to recess, lunch, or home.

  • Behavior: There are three cards for Behavior. If a card is ‘moved’, a student must fill out a Behavior Slip. Included on the Behavior Slip is the student’s name, date, and the behavior that resulted in the loss of each card as well as a place to record how he or she may improve the behavior. The Slip is sent home and returned with a parent’s signature.

-          Green: If a student misbehaves, they move the green card to the back. This is the first warning; there is no ‘penalty’.

-          Yellow: A second misbehavior and the student moves the yellow card to the back. This is the second warning; the result is a 5-minute loss of recess.

-          Red: On the third misbehavior, they move their red slip. This is the third warning and a loss of 5 minutes of “Personal Best Day”. (Note that this can accumulate to a total loss of “Personal Best Day”).

-          Blue: If a student gets to blue (never happened yet!) I would make a call in the middle of the day to their parents and the child would then tell their parents of the behaviors.

  • Homework: There is one “Excuse Card” for Homework. When a student does not have homework completed he or she does the following:

-          Turns the Homework Smiley Card over.

-          Fills out an “Excuse Slip”. On the slip the student writes their name, date, the assignment missed AND why the assignment was not completed. The completed “Excuse Slip” is handed in to the teacher. I write a note to you via the planner.

Personal Best Day

This falls on Fridays and is a designated time of ‘teacher time’ to do extra work, practice on the computer, tutor or be tutored, or to do some of the reading required for homework. Those students who have unfinished work must do it during this time.

The Classroom Economy

The accountability management plan works hand-in-hand with the classroom economy year-long unit. Please click on Our Classroom Economy for more information.
