K.N.I.G.H.T.’S BINDER

K.N.I.G.H.T.S. is an acronym for Keeping Necessary Information & Goals Handy (for) Terrific Students. These books are  3-ring binders, put together by the teacher and students that houses EVERYTHING students and parents need to keep up with what is going on at school.  No more wrinkled papers in the bottom of our backpacks.  No more lost notes, newsletters or calendars.  No more searching the house to find paper to write the teacher a note.  Everything is in one notebook!

Why is it important to have?

It helps students to establish good organizational skills as well as teach them responsibility.

Elements of the KNIGHT’S Binder:

  • Plastic Sleeves (2):Holds description of the K.N.I.G.H.T.S. Book (including The K.N.I.G.H.T.S. Book Rules).
  • Bi-Monthly Newsletter and Lunch Menu
  • HCS Assignment Notebook (Planner): At the end of the day the students write in all the assignments we have completed during the day. Then they highlight any items that are not done and put them into the daily homework pocket of the binder. Parents sign or initial by the day’s assignments indicating to me that they have looked the notebook over and discussed homework.
  • Pocket Folder #1: Family/Teacher Connection
    • Left Side: “Read and Keep”: IE. Notes from me, our principal, school nurse, or any other school personnel or organization. Graded deskwork, homework, tests, etc.
    • Right Side: “Read and Return”: Signed papers, notes to me -- basically, ANYTHING THAT IS RETURNED.
  • Pocket Folder #2: Daily Homework and Homework Projects

The KNIGHT’S Binder's Rules:
