Here’s what we’ll be doing this week …
Bible
Continuing with our Life of Jesus theme, we’re looking at how “Victory Over Temptation. Our corresponding memory verse if Psalm 119:9, 11. Any student that does verse 10, of course, will get extra credit:
Language Arts:
We’re continuing our study of “Sentences and Personal Narratives” by now applying our knowledge into Personal Narratives. Our Sentence Caricatures are displayed on our outside wall for the faculty, staff, and secondary students to vote on each poster. Winners will be awarded Castle Cash and mentioned in our weekly newsletter.
Math:
We continue to study place value and time. Our first unit test will be Wednesday, Oct. 14th.
Reading:
Reflections: Genres studied in this unit are realistic fiction, historical fiction and nonfiction. Our book projects will be a biography/autobiography character poster. Instructions, timetable, and rubric are to be kept in your child’s KNIGHT’s binder/Project Folder for the duration of the project. We work on it during class time.
Science:
We continue our first unit which is Life in God’s Creation. Our first quiz is this Thursday and our unit test will be next Thursday!
Social Studies:
In Social Studies we study Our American History and Pennsylvania. Since Pennsylvania was an integral part of the growth of our United States, the two themes will be studied side-by-side all year long. We will finish up the first unit, Exploring Explorers with a paired research project started and completed in class. This will be the ‘test’ grade.
Spelling
Unit 1/#4: “Seal Journey”. Wednesday is the pre-test date. If a student aces the pre-test they are exempt from the ‘real’ test the following day, Thursday. To ace a test is to write every word correctly, no exceptions. Check out the spelling list on our website.
