AZ 1st Annual Junior Festival

2009 AZ Junior Festival Day

The Arizona State Thespian Society will be hosting their 2nd annual Jr. Thespian Festival, on December 12, 2009 at Estrella Foothills High School. Here is a brief list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) that will assist your school in registering and attending this Festival.

Who attends the Festival?  Do you have to be a Jr. Thespian to attend the Festival? The festival is open to all junior high aged (6th -8th grades) theatre students or students of those ages who are interested in theatre.  You may attend as a group or individually.

How do we register for the Conference?

Please select and download the appropriate forms you need from the bottom of this page. Then type in all required information and print 2 copies. Mail or e-mail one to Tricia Schultz, Estrella Foothills High School, Goodyear AZ, 85338, and save one for your records. Please include a school purchase order or school check with your registration. For individuals, a personal check is acceptable.

Registration deadline is November 2, 2009

Why should we attend? Students have the opportunity to see two productions, participate in numerous theatre workshops, perform individual events for critique, and generally meet and get to know other juniors throughout the state who have the same interests.

How much does the Festival cost?  The Festival registration fee for is $20 per student. Sponsor's and chaperones are $12.00, or are free with the paid registration of five students from their school. The registration fee covers the cost of student admission to the festival, lunch, and a t-shirt.

Where do we send our conference registration fees? Mail a copy of all of your paperwork to: Tricia Schultz, Estrella Foothills High School, Goodyear AZ, 85338

What is the conference deadline and how do you make changes to your registration after you have registered?  The deadline for the festival is Nov. 2, 2009.  You can register after the deadline but you will be charged a late registration fee of $25.00. Late registrants cannot participate in Individual Events.  If you make changes after the deadline date there will be a $5.00 fee per change added to your registration invoice and due upon registration at festival.

Is there supervision at the festival? Schools groups attending are required to provide chaperones to supervise their own group and Arizona Thespians provides adult board members as general supervision for all individual students attending.  Parents of individuals are welcome to register and attend as well.

What time should our school arrive and depart from Festival? There is a tentative schedule on the registration information paperwork.  Estrella Foothills is approximately 20 minutes south of the I-10 on Estrella Parkway in Goodyear.  Plan your drive so that you have enough time to arrive during registration.

How many IEs can a student register for? Students may participate in one Individual Event.

Refund and Cancellation Policy  No refunds granted for registered students and/or their affiliated schools after the registration is closed. Schools are responsible for the full amount of their registration after the submission of said registration. Payment should be made after your school is invoiced.  Any student and/or school registered for the Jr. Festival on/or after the posted registration date will be subject to any and all fees incurred.  If a student fails to attend the festival for any reason, there is no refund for any and all fees paid. Registered schools and sponsors or the parents/legal guardians of any individual registrants are responsible for any and all fees incurred, including any legal fees or court costs involved in collecting the conference registration.
