Course Description:

In this course, we will study the beliefs and traditions of many of the major religions of the world.  By evaluating each religion’s core beliefs, rituals, sacred texts, moral codes, and spirituality, the student will be able to compare and contrast each religion to the Catholic faith.

We will begin our survey with a look at the three major monotheistic religions: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.  We will then turn our attention to Hinduism and Buddhism, and briefly look at Chinese and Japanese religions.  We will end the course by studying New Religious traditions.

Course Objectives:

  • To gain insight, understanding, and tolerance of the faith traditions of the human family
  • To recognize the common threads among faith traditions, and consequently view all people as part of the same human family

With our vision we will make a difference in the world by walking in the footsteps of Pope John Paul II.

Our mission is to develop leaders who are critical thinkers and effective communicators, committed to service and rooted in faith.
