50 Book Report Hot Dog Lunch Monday, May 21st
Last Day of School Wednesday, May 23rd
Dear Families,
This is the last newsletter of the year. I want to again thank all of you for the support and the invaluable help you have been to me and our class. My last year has been absolutely wonderful due to these terrific kids and all of you. I hope you all have a wonderful summer and that this group of boys and girls continue with this positive path of learning.
I will send “Friday folders” home on Monday, May 21st, with all of the last quarter’s graded papers. I do not need the folders or papers returned. They are yours to keep. We will clean out desk Tuesday, May 22nd, and will send home all supplies and workbooks. Please remember that school will dismiss Wednesday, May 23rd, at 12:30. I will need a written note that day if your child is going home any way other than normal.
THIS WEEK IN:
READING: We will review the story Jingle Dancer. I am not sending home a copy of the story or vocabulary as we took the test over the story during PowWow. We will work on the skills of character, plot, and setting along with cause & effect. There will not be a test over this story.
SPELLING: A copy of our last spelling lesson #30 is attached. We work on the prefixes “-mis” and “-mid.” The test will be Thursday as we have Field Day Friday. I will send homework Wednesday.
GRAMMAR: We are continuing to work on paragraph writing. A practice sheet is attached. There will be no Grammar homework this week.
MATH: We will complete Topic 19: Multiplication and test over it on Tuesday. I will send homework on Monday. We will begin Topic 20: Division.
SOCIAL STUDIES AND SCIENCE are ended for the year.
I am, also, attaching a copy of the last quarter’s spelling words that we will use the last three days of school for a Spelling Bee. There will be no test over these. We will just review them and on the morning of the last day hold a Spelling Bee in the room for fun.
LIBRARY: All library books should be returned. The last day to turn in book reports will be Thursday, May 17th. I will send home a note on Friday, May 18th, letting you know if your child completed enough book reports to attend my special luncheon. If not, your child will go to the cafeteria during our normal time.
REMINDERS:
May 18th, is Field Day. We still need two volunteers for the morning and two for the afternoon to help run stations. If you could give us a hand please let me know. This year’s theme is “The Olympics” and our class will be representing the country of Mexico. This week we will be learning about our “south of the border” neighbor.
Wednesday, May 23rd, is the last day of school. School will dismiss at 12:30. Report cards will be sent home on the last day of school.
As we wind down this school year please let me know if you have questions or concerns. Again, I have really enjoyed this school year and am retiring feeling very blessed to have worked with these children and you.
Take care,
Mrs. Miller
