 Earth Science
Fifth Grade Standards: - Students will describe how water moves between the oceans and land through evaporation and condensation.
- Students will know that weather is caused by heat and air movements.
- Students will describe the Solar System and that it is made up of planets and other bodies that orbit the Sun.
- Students explain how the pulling force of gravity between the Sun, planets, and other objects keeps them in orbit.
Physical Science Fifth Grade Standards: - Students will know individual particles (atoms) and their different combinations make up all the varied types of materials in the world.
- Students will compare different kinds of matter (substances) and tell them apart by certain characteristics.
- Students will identify compounds and other kinds of substances that when combined form a new kind of material.
 Life Science
Fifth Grade Standard: - Students will understand that plants and animals have systems for respiration, digestion, and waste disposal.
 Investigation and Experimentation
Fifth Grade Standards: - Students will plan and conduct simple investigations including a testable question, identify variables, select tools, and record data.
- Students will make quantitative scientific observations, draw conclusions from evidence, and write a report.
