Red Ribbon Week Fifth graders enjoyed Red Ribbon week at Hearst. We pledge to make positive choices and respect ourselves and others. A big "thank you!" goes out to our community safety officers who took time from their busy day to visit us and share how they support and protect citizens.  The Hearst PTA Jog-a-thon is on Wed., Nov. 18 @ 10:30 - 11:30 am. Bring your sponsorship $ into school anytime this week. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for the Jog-a-thon. Fifth graders will lead the way around the track! Have fun, and I'll see you there!

Book Reviews are due on the last day of every month. Monday, Nov. 30 is the next due date. Work on your book review during Literacy Activities in class to reduce your homework load. Look for the Book Review Outline and Monthly Schedule posted at the bottom of this homepage. Parent-Teacher Conferences are this week (Nov. 16-20)! Student report cards are ready, and we can discuss your child's achievement so far in the fifth grade. Each day this week is a minimum day so that parents and teachers have time to meet. Students are dismissed at 12:30 pm. 
The Star of India overnight field trip is on Friday, January 8, 2010! Fifth graders in rooms 11 and 5 will participate in The Voyage of Hope program and spend the night as sailors on the ship. Look for your child's field trip packet - sent home on Wed., Nov. 4.
