Valentine's Day suckers are on sale for $1.00 each. Look for the sales table in front of the school during the morning @ 7:30 and after school @ 2:15 starting this Fri., Feb. 5 and next Mon. - Wed. Candies will be delivered to each classroom on Thurs., Feb. 11. Proceeds benefit 5th grade promotion costs.  Race for Literacy Register by February 17! Our school is participating in this year's Race for Literacy Union Tribune Kids Magic Mile. The date is Sat., March 6, 2010. Register on-line at http://www.inmotionevents.com/events/new_unione0bb.htm You will find "Hearst Elementary" under the team registration. Children (13 and under) are $13.00 and adults are $18.00. Everyone receives a T-shirt with our team name and goodies at the race; plus, students each receive a medal and a free book of their choosing. A bus will be provided for transportation to and from the event. We will meet @ 7:00 am on Race Day (Sat., March 6) in front of the school. Come join us!  Monthly Book Reviews & Book Talks Book Reviews are due on the last day of every month. The next Book Review is due on Friday, February 26, OR Monday, March 1 , 2010. Work on your book review during Literacy Activities in class to reduce your homework load. Look for the Book Review Outline and Monthly Schedule posted at the bottom of this homepage. The Hearst Talent Show is on Friday, February 19 @ 6:30 pm at Lewis Middle School. Look for a flyer to come home with all of the details of the event. See you there!
