Milton Terrace North Wheel of Caring

2008-09 Penny Harvest

Congratulations!  As a district we were able to give away $8,000 in grants.

Our roundtable committees at each school have presented the following awards:

Ballston Spa High School: $1,000 to Saratoga County Rural Preservation Company

Ballston Spa Middle School: $1,000 to Saratoga County Animal Shelter

Milton Terrace North Elementary School: $1,250 to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter

Milton Terrace South Elementary School: $1,250 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region

Malta Ave. Elementary School: $1,025 to Rebuilding Together Saratoga, $1,025 to Habitat for Humanity, $200 to Ballston Spa’s Fair Trade

Wood Rd. Elementary School: $1,250 to Saratoga County Rural Preservation Company

Inspired to do more, Wood Road Student Council has decided to donate $200 to The Friends of the Saratoga County Animal Shelter & $200 to Christ Episcopal Church Food Pantry. They will also be running food drives for both the pantry & for The Friends of the Animal Shelter to provide food for pets whose families can’t afford it..

For more details about the penny harvest, see the Common Cents website.

The pictures at the bottom of the page are examples of the 2008 collection efforts.

The Wheels of Caring were developed by the students in the Ballston Spa Schools to collectively determine groups in the community who may benefit financially from the penny harvest.
