Home Miss Elliott's Classes

Welcome to my site.  I am Miss Bethanne Elliott, a teacher in the Social Studies Department at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.  Because I believe it is important to understand the background of any situation, I'd like to introduce myself and use this site as an opportunity for you to have access to the information you need to be successful in my classes.

I teach both AP US History (11th grade) and World Geography (9th grade) within the department.  When looking for assignments and resources, be sure you are on the correct page.  However, you are always free to explore any of the resources available here and use them at your discretion.  They are all applicable to research within Social Studies and may afford a different perspective on the situation/issue you are exploring.

Feel free to contact me at any time.  Email is an excellent way to reach me at any time of day or night and I frequently am able to respond within 24 hours.  You may also call me at school at (972) 925-1274 or at home.  You will receive my home phone number on the information sent home on the first day of school.  Please feel free to use this as well; I give it to you for that reason.  I do ask, however, that you not call after 9 pm.  I am an "early to bed, early to rise" person.

Classroom Expectations

  • All homework and classwork must be completed and turn in on time, to the appropriate box.
  •  Absolutely no food in the classroom at any time.
  •  Water bottles will be allowed, but may not be left in the classroom.
  •  During classroom discussions, you must conduct yourself as a participant in a conversation.  Look at the person speaking, listen to his or her points, and respond, in a clear and concise manner, at an appropriate time, without interruption.  This applies to both fellow students and the teacher.
  •  Come to class prepared.  This means having all books and materials in class, on time.  No restroom breaks will be allowed except in absolute emergencies.
  •  You must supplement any “down” time with a magazine from my collection.  Please be kind to my books and magazines.
  •  You may NOT do homework from this or any other class during class time unless you have specific permission.
