THIS WEEK IN SCIENCE...

(Updated, 6 Sept - Saturday)

What a great way to start the school year!  Students are beginning to settle into their routines and are showing great potential for a super year in science. Thanks to all that brought in a box or two of tissues. These are very much appreciated and will be helpful in the coming fall and winter months.

  • MONDAY: HW Illustration is due.  This should be a picture of the student doing science - meaning that they should be observing and collecting data on an object of interest.  The illustration needs to be large, colorful, identify 10 objects, and have 2-3 sentences caption.  We will then discuss and redefine the concept of what is a Scientist.
  • TUESDAY:  The rest of the week will be spent reviewing geography and mapping skills.  Students will be asked to make a detailed map of their neigborhood block.  Students will then be introduced to the Galapagos Islands which will serve as a backdrop for our Earth and Life Sciences studies this semester. All students need their Science Binder by Thursday.
  • FRIDAY: There will be a vocab quiz of the first 25 words on the 5th grade Science WASL list handed out last Friday.  Students will also begin their Scientist Biography research project.  Information and documents will be posted on this site.

7th grade Science supply list:

  • Science Binder w/dividers
