I am very happy to be teaching Language Arts to Middle School students this year. We will be following the C-Scope curriculum. Students will be exposed to a variety of literary genres and will learn to read with an analytical approach. I will also be focussing on improving grammar usage and written style in particular this year. Most work will be required to be submitted as complete sentances and paragraphs and students are expected to re-read their work after it is graded to note any grammatical mistakes.
I have highlighted the major components of the C-Scope curriculum for each grade. I highly recommend students to read extra texts to support their learning in class.
Please refer to the recommended reading list for each grade for ideas on what kind of books will benefit students the most. It is important for students to read books that challenge them and allow them to stretch their range of comprehension and vocabulary.
Whilst grades are posted regularly on Gradelink parents are welcome to adress any other concerns to me through e- mail or by setting up an appointment.
My Grading Policy:
20 % Class Participation
20 % Projects and Assignments
20 % Quizzes
15 % Final Exam
15 % Classwork
10 % Homework
Late work: 10% will be deducted from the score for every day that work is late.
