Hi everyone! I'm testing out the idea of trying a blog! I'm not too sure how much time I have to devote to blogging with 2 kids and a new puppy to attend to at home, but hey, it's worth a try!
The Prairie Dog Dialogue
This is my first attempt at a classroom blog!

1. Time flies
Can I claim the dog ate my computer??? Hi all! Ok, It's been too long since my last blog post. Here are some highlights since I posted last: - We had a fantastic Halloween party! Thanks to all the wonderful parents who helped and Mrs. Ossello for being the room parent in charge!
- We also made some amazing mosaic mirrors (I really wanted one myself, but I couldn't afford one! HA) for the PTG Auction. Thanks to Mrs. Regehr for putting that project together for us! Mrs. Ossello and Mrs. Ingram also chipped in their time to help with students working on it. Each mirror was purchased for $400! That's a whopping $800 for our school!!! The PTG auction raised around $23,000 for our school this year. Thanks to everyone who contributed in some way or another! I'd like to thank all the crazy parents who devoted their time to pulling off another spectacular auction! I, once again, was truly impressed! For those of you who have never attended, put it on your MUST DO list for next year!
- Well, we didn't win the box top contest(and no, Mrs. Smith, I hoard my boxtops!), BUT I have the utmost confidence we will win the next one. The boxtops keep pouring in! Although we didn't win the contest, my class earned $62.10. I've got my eye on some bean bags for reading time as well as headphones for computers...that $ will be perfect for that! THANK YOU for saving those box tops. We teachers really appreciate your efforts!!!!
- Parent Teacher conferences are here! I'm looking forward to meeting with you all to share your child's strengths and goals!

2. Box Tops contest is ON!!!!
Ok, so if you're not familiar with those small pink box tops on various food and grocery items, here's a picture to show you what they look like! You can find them on SO many things, so you need to keep your eye out for them! Some items even have double box tops! The money earned from this contest goes directly to the classroom teacher's reimbursement fund from the PTG (thanks again PTG!). As an example, I purchased book bags for the students this year and I can use the money earned from the box tops to cover that cost. On top of that, the teacher of classroom who collects the most box tops will earn a gift certificate to Learning Is Fun (basically a teacher's Toys R Us). I'm trying to beat Debby Smith, who usually wins this contest! I'm hoping because I have her child in my class this year, she will share the wealth! Just kidding Debby! I know it's each teacher for herself! HA! Really, it's a fantastically easy way to support your child's classroom. I've even got my OWN parents and friends saving throughout the year for me! Send your box tops in NOW! Thanks!

3. The Word is out!!!!
Thanks Julie Orenstein for being the FIRST, yes FIRST person to post a comment on the Prairie Dog Dialogue! I'm so glad you enjoyed Open House! Yes, it is true that the class was so amazing, I was forced to perform the Happy Teacher ... I can just picture Devon sharing my dance moves! Thanks Devon! Well, what can I say? A happy teacher just can't contain her excitement! So, can you tell I'm practicing learning how to insert animation into my blog? I will leave you with one of my Happy Teacher Dance moves.... Mrs. Almeida

4. Open House
Wow! We had a full house tonight at Open House! Thank you so much for coming and supporting your child in his/her education! I hope I explained everything you ever wanted to know about second grade! HA! Please let me know if you have any questions! If you were not able to attend, make sure to contact me if you'd like your information to go out on the non-confidential classmate information sheet. That way you have all the classmates contact info! If you didn't sign up for conferences, there is still time (since they're in November!)! Contact me to see what times are still available! It's a pleasure teaching your kids everyday! What a great group of kids and parents! I'm off to bed now.

5. First blog post...here we go!
I'm playing around with this blog idea, not sure anyone will actually read or post! HA! What do you think of the Blog title? I thought about "The Prairie Dog Blog", but went with dialogue instead.
