1st Grade 1st Grade is currently learning about and improving their singing voices. They are also learning to keep the steady beat and to recognize the difference between high and low, loud and soft, beat and rhythm.

2nd Grade 2nd Grade is currently learning how to read dynamic symbols in music. We are also learning to look for verses and refrains in music. During 2nd grade all students will focus on learning how to recognize the difference between beat and rhythm and basic music reading skills will be taught.

3rd Grade 3rd Grade is currently learning about composers and different types of music compositions. They will learn how to follow a listening map while listening to different compositions. They are also learning how to sing with simple harmony and how to read and play more complex rhythms.

4th Grade 4th Grade is currently learning about composers and different types of music compositions. They will listen to music and follow music listening maps. They will also learn how to read music and review the music staff and basic music theory. This will help them prepare for learning to play the recorder after Winter Break.

5th Grade 5th Grade is currently working on their musical, "Music and Me." The musical is about a young boy, name Jacob, who has lost music and has decided to ask his friends and his teacher for help. The students help Jacob find music by telling him about the building blocks of music; melody, rhythm, harmony, tone, form and expression. The 5th grade will perform their musical on October 14th, in the Plum Creek Elementary Cafetorium.
