| Online Dictionary This site provides an online dictionary with pictures. It is somewhat elementary, however, you can choose an English-Spanish or English-French and vise versa if you are having difficulty with your vocabulary. | Criterion Writing Criterion writing is the new program we will be using in English. It allows students to work on writing a piece and having the program instantly grade it and provide feedback. We will be using it all year, every Wednesday as a part of class, but students can also access it from home. |

| Study Island Study Island is a web-based program where students can individually practice those skills which they need the most work on. This site requires students to log in and tracks progress. The teacher assigns work based on a diagnostic test that each student was given. These skills are all sixth grade specific and the same skills will be on the CRT in March. Students must work through their assignments and earn a blue ribbon for each assignment before credit will be given. This is part of the students' class grade. Time is also given at school to work on this and students may sign up for before or after school time if they need to work on it here. |

| Online English Grammar This site has a lot of helpful information if you can get past the ads and the poor layout of the homepage. Most of the information you will need for my class from this site will be listed under "Grammar." If you go immediately to this button at the top, it gives you some excellent grammar rules and examples to help with homework. |

| Writing Topics and Ideas from Write Source This site is an extension of the resource handbook we use in class. It gives lists of topics for different kinds of writing for those writers having a difficult time coming up with a topic. |

| About.com English Guide This site has a lot of helpful activities, worksheets, and online content to help with understanding grammar and its usage. Be aware that only the information in the center is free; there are "advertisements" on either side and the format is somewhat difficult to sort through. You may want to have an adult or older sibling help you wade through the information to get what you really need. |

| Book Reviews/Short Stories by Kids This site is kind of busy with a lot of adds on the first page. However, once you get in there are some reviews of different literature and poetry written by students. If you are looking for a book to read, you may want to check out this site and see if someone else has reviewed it. |

| edmodo edmodo is a Facebook-like application that allows students to post notes to each other and the teacher in a secore online environment. Only students with the class code can join and all posts are monitored by me. This is a great opportunity for collaboration between students and the teacher. |
