Applying for Colleges, Scholarships and Programs

The Application Process 1) Establish a grade point starting in 9th grade that is appropriate for your career path. 2) Challenge yourself and improve your “strength of program” when scheduling classes. 3) Prepare for and take standardized test at the appropriate time: ¨ Fall of 10th Grade- PLAN ¨ Fall of 11th Grade- PSAT ¨ Spring of 11th Grade- ACT/MME 4) Establish short and long-term goals for your education and career. 5) Visit colleges and narrow you choices to 5 – 7 schools. 6) Find applications in the career center or online. 7) Complete your applications and submit online or deliver to the counseling center. ¨ You can apply as early as August of your senior year. ¨ Apply early to improve your chance for admission. ¨ Attend Onsite Admissions when available for the fastest admission response ¨ Complete applications will include: § Your personal information (on paper or submitted online) § Any essays or personal statements (on paper or submitted online) § An activity sheet (on paper or submitted online) § Required counselor portion or letters of recommendation § Application fee or waiver* *Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch may use 3 waivers (available in the counseling center)
