Romance and Drama Sometimes, there are no better movies than the ones that move our hearts, and oftentimes, these are romantic or dramatic movies. There are tons of good ones out there, but this page is to of course review those I have seen. Remember, I may not have enjoyed all of them! LOL In any case, I'll certainly share them with you. :O) Enchanted-- (*****) Enchanted is totally a girlie movie for those who are waiting for their ideal love to come along! LOL Giselle is a princess in a fairytale world who believes she has found her true love, that is until the prince's evil stepmother sends her to earth, where there are NO happily ever afters! Giselle is trapped here, but she begins to educate all of those she meets, particularly Robert and his daughter, about what true love really is...and then discovers it for herself in Robert! This is a must-see movie for young and the young-at-heart! And you can't forget the famous music that Disney is so well-known for! (D) The Lakehouse-- (*****) I thought this was an excellent movie. Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock star in a movie about love that is found over time. She is a doctor and he the son of an architect; both are not looking for a relationship. However, she sends a letter through an old mailbox she used to have, and he writes back...then she discovers that he is from two years in the PAST! A beautiful movie about living and waiting for the one you love the most; check it out. It's wonderful. (D) Pride and Prejudice-- (*****) This movie is based on the book by Jane Austen. There are two versions that are exceptionally good; one is five hours long, sort of the comprehensive version, and the other is two hours, the perfect version for simply sitting down and watching some good, old fashioned romance! Elizabeth Bennett is a strong, country girl who wants her family to have a good reputation...she is also beautiful. A man named Mr. Bingley enters into the country and brings a friend with him, Mr. Darcy, who seems so stubborn and proud no one can make him out! However, when Lizzie's sister Jane falls for Mr. Bingley, Lizzie is thrown into the company of Mr. Darcy very often...and the two of them constantly butt heads! Sparks fly and pride abounds in this tale of love overcoming expectations. Check it out! (D,N) Runaway Jury-- (***) A thoroughly interesting movie starring Dustin Hoffman and John Cusack! Runaway Jury focuses on the inner-workings of a trial and how lawyers can be bought and paid for before a trial even begins, changing the outcome of a courtcase before a person is tried. In this particular case, two players are out for justice to be served to some families long forgotten. Wait until you see how this case plays out! A very interesting movie indeed, but not for under-teens...they wouldn't understand it and would probably lose interest. (D) Sense & Sensibility-- (*****) Another movie based on the book by Jane Austen. Elinor and Marianne are the Dashwood sisters, and they couldn't be more different! Marianne is a lover of all things poetic and fiery, and Elinor wants a sensible, honest man. Can the two of them find true love? Or will life get in the way? Elinor meets the love of her life (Ferris), but he has pledged himself to another woman, and Marianne's love is a wild man whose love is money (Willoughby), but there is another man who cares for her very much (Brandon). Can these problems ever be solved? Will love win out? Find out in this beautiful, moving story! (D,N) Two Weeks Notice-- (****) A hilarious romantic comedy that will keep you laughing for hours! Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock star as a boss and his assistant. He calls her for everything, and after a year or so, she cannot even live her life without a phone call from him to ask her what suit to wear with a new tie! So she gives him her two weeks notice, and he asks her to help him pick her replacement. The trouble is, as she begins to work with the new girl and watches the two of them interact, she realizes that she is actually in love with him! Hilarity abounds in this funny movie. There are some not-so-pg-rated cracks in this movie...so mature viewers only! (D)
