Batman Begins-- (*****) This has to be my favorite Batman movie of all time except the Animated Series that was on TV several years ago (of which I have the series, of course; see my review under cartoons!).  Christian Bale stars as Bruce Wayne, a young man who has given up on his life trying to understand the criminal mind to be able to fight back.  He finds purpose again with a man named Ras Al Ghul, played by Liam Neeson (love him!), and decides that he must become more than a man to strike fear into the hearts of the criminal underworld.  Fighting on the side of good with no amazing abilites but his own strength and ingenuity and a couple of super cool gadgets including the Tumbler, 'Batman' literally begins in this really thrilling restart to the series.   (D, N)

The Dark Knight-- (****) This movie is awesome...but absolutely terrifying, and NOT for kids at all.  Christian Bale stars again as Bruce Wayne/Batman, but this time he faces off against someone even more terrible and insane than Ras!  The Joker, played quite terrifyingly by Heath Ledger, is the star of this show, and he is ready to watch Gotham City burn as he tries to play the citizens off of Batman and get them to hate him.  The real struggle on screen is not just Joker against Batman, but Bruce against himself.  Although Bale's acting could have been better, the storyline still gets across quite well.  A good addition to the Batman saga. Eagle-Eye-- (*****) Shia LeBouef stars in this thriller about a boy and a complete stranger who are used by a computer to assassinate the President of the United States and his cabinet.  Amazingly, they cannot escape and they must do exactly as they are told, otherwise they, or their families, will die.  The entire world may be in jeopardy if the computer with a will of it's own succeeds...and it is only because of the brave souls who must face off with her that the world may even survive. Indiana Jones-- (*****) There aren't many people in the world who haven't heard of the famous archaeologist/treasure hunter, Indiana Jones (or the actor, Harrison Ford).  There are now four movies that you can check out that Indy is famous for.  In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indy travels to Egypt to find the lost Ark of the Covenant, where he runs into some nasty Nazi soldiers.  Part II, The Temple of Doom, tells the story of Indy in India, where he runs afoul a nasty cult and he has to help a small village get their sacred stones back.  The Last Crusade, features both Indy and his father (Sean Connery, gotts love him!) and is their special search for the Holy Grail.  Finally, the series rounded out with The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which told the story of some aliens coming to earth and leaving behind some crystal skulls in the amazon.  Indy faces the Russians in this adventure!  Every single one of these awesome movies is excellent, and you should watch them.  They are PG-13s, so make sure you ask your parents first!

Journey to the Center of the Earth-- (*****) What a great movie!  Brendan Fraiser stars in this 3D adventure about a hidden world inside our planet.  A man goes searching for his brother who tried to find the center of the earth, following a tale by Jules Verne, and takes along his nephew and a beautiful tour guide.  Suddenly, they become trapped inside the earth and must escape many dangers (including a T-Rex!) as the temperature inside the earth rises.  A great movie with a good story and awesome special effects.  Check it out!  (N, D)

Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor-- (*****) This is a really wonderful movie.  The third in a series of Mummy movies, but definitely the best and most kid-friendly!  LOL  Brendan Fraiser stars as Rick, a mummy-destroying archaeologist.  He and his wife are out battling a mummy raised from the dead of ancient china.  They face yeti, weather battles, and hundreds of zombies.  A movie that really is very exciting and also has a great story.  Check it out!  A little violent, but nothing too frightening and not gruesome like the first two. Loved it!  (N, D)

National Treasure-- (*****) An unbelievable story about a hidden, invisible map on the Declaration of Independence!  A history adventure ride!  Nicholas Cage stars as Benjamin Gates, a scientist who is searching for a hidden treasure from his heritage.  However, another scientist who works with him has decided that the only way to find the treasure is to get the map, and it is on the back of the most well-guarded national monument in history!  He decides to steal it, but in order to protect it, Ben decides that HE has to steal it first...and this leads to a race you'll never forget!  (D)

National Treasure: Book of Secrets-- (*****) The sequel to National Treasure, this is another great movie.  This particular treasure is a temple hidden in a very strange place...the city of gold, hidden under another one of the U.S's special monuments.  Clues are found in amazing places, and Gates, in order to protect the treasure again from treasure hunters and to clear his great-great grandfather's name, even kidnaps the President of the United States!  Another rolicking history adventure with just a great storyline and wonderful characters!  Enjoy this one!  (D)

Pirates of the Caribbean-- (*****) Three movies of a trilogy with a fourth to come, Pirates is a really fun trilogy to see, if just for the zany antics of the three main characters!  The first, "Curse of the Black Pearl," is a story about Will Turner who meets Captain Jack Sparrow and asks him to help save Elizabeth Swann from the clutches of the cursed pirate Captain Barbossa.  Plot twists abound in this movie, so pay attention!  The second film is "Dead Man's Chest."  Davy Jones is after Capt. Jack because he owes him the debt of his soul for giving him the Black Pearl as his ship for many years; Will and Elizabeth are about to be married, but the East India trading company has other ideas; and is that our old friend Commodore Norrington?!?  Whose side are any of these people on, anyway?  Finally, the last movie is "At World's End."  After Jack's untimely demise in the former movie, Will & Elizabeth travel to the end of the world to bring Jack back and to try to take back the ocean for pirates as the East India Trading Company is taking over the world and killing them all.  Everyone has their own agenda, but now Davy Jones is being forced to serve the Trading Company; as everything is building, Elizabeth is made a captain and the Pirate King, Will is made the Captain of the Flying Dutchman, and Jack gets his precious Pearl back once and for all.  Is it possible that everything can work out to the happiness of aeveryone? Looking forward to the fourth installment...and wondering if it is possible to have any more twists in a storyline...(D)

Speed-- (*****) This is the story of a California cop (Keanu Reeves) who is having a run-in with a terrible killer.  The killer, a retired cop himself, decides to inact some revenge by placing a bomb on a moving bus so that the bus will explode if it travels under 45mph!  Reeves stars as the cop who tries to save all of the patrons on the bus, and Sandra Bullock stars as a patron who becomes the driver of it!  Their chemistry is awesome, and this movie is so action-packed and edge-of-you-seat that you must see it!  R rating, however, so either watch it on TV (where all the cursing is cut out), or mute it out at places.  Parental viewing advised first!
