Multiplication and Division Masters 2008-2009

Multiplication and Division?  That's So Easy!

        Every Tuesday and Friday the students in our classroom take multiplication quizzes.  They must answer 100 problems in 3 minutes, while only getting one problem incorrect!  This is a tough and challenging task, but one that select students should be honored for.  A student becomes a Multiplication Master by completing the tables up to their 12s and upon doing so receives a special certificate. 

        Upon completion of the 12s, students take quizzes that have two sets of facts in them.  Then, they take two quizzes with all of the facts, and on completion of them, they will receive a new certificate which makes them a Multiplyin' Maniac--they have defeated their times tables and know them like the back of their hand!

        When students have exhausted all of these quizzes, they will work at mastering division facts, the opposite of multiplication!  Then, upon completing 100 of those simple facts in three minutes, they will become a Division Daredevil!  The student embarks on thier final task of conquering division facts in groups of twos.  When they have completed all of these quizzes, their final challenge is over and they have become a Dividin' Dominator!  However, a thought from a student gave me a brilliant idea...that will REALLY test our students to see if they know their facts!  :O)  We'll see what comes of that idea.

         Officially, we now have a Multiplication Master!
