Rosie the Rockstar

Fourth Grade~Rockin' with Responsibility

Dear Parents and Students,

My name is Alison Rose and I am so thrilled to be your child's teacher in fourth grade.  This will be my twelfth year at Patronis Elementary, but my 20th year teaching elementary school.  I graduated from Florida Southern College with a Bachelor of Science in Education specializing in Primary and Elementary Education.  I began my teaching career in Naples, Florida with the District School Board of Collier County.  While there, I taught kindergarten for five years and first grade for three years. I moved to Panama City Beach over eleven years ago and was fortunate to get a job at Patronis.  I have had a great experience here teaching first, second, third, fourth and fifth grades.  I currently have my ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) and Gifted and Reading Endorsements.  At Patronis, I have been a Technology Mentor, a member and chair of a Professional Learning Community, a member of the School Leadership Team, a member of the School Advisory Council, grade level chair for fifth grade, Public Relations contact for the Patronis Elementary Facebook page, a co-teacher in 8:00 Kids, and previously was a co-teacher in the Intermediate Demonstration Classroom for Bay District Schools with one of my best friends, Anna Hull.  We taught a collaborative 4th and 5th grade

Talented and Gifted class.

A little personal info...I was born in Rome, Georgia.  I lived there for a short time before we moved to Naples, Florida.  I am an only, lonely child of two wonderful parents, Daddy and Mommy Rose.  My parents have always been in the agriculture business.  They went from tomatoes in Naples to grapes in California.  That's right...they up and moved far, far away from me.  I cannot complain though because I get to go visit them in beautiful Monterey County, California.  My family has always been my biggest support system and I love them more than I could ever express.

Almost three years ago I married my wonderful husband, Jeremy.  I'm officially Mrs. Rose Evans now, but everyone around school calls me may too!

We welcomed a sweet baby girl, Kinslea Rose, in October and are over the moon excited with our addition to our very blessed family.

When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with my family and friends doing any activity that makes us all laugh. When I'm not working at school, you can usually find me in a quiet spot reading a book or researching new and innovative ideas online.  Music makes me happy, but I have a terrible singing voice(be glad if you've never had to hear me sing).  My favorite colors are hot pink and black.  I could eat mashed potatoes at every meal and I drink entirely too many Coca Colas.  I've been collecting butterflies for many years and have them displayed all over the classroom and at home.  I am told I am rather unique and definitely think "out of the box."

It is my understanding that your child has already rocked to the beat of his/her own drum.  During fourth grade, look forward to a challenging and fun year, as we continue to "rock and roll" as accomplished readers and writers.  You will see many changes in your child's thinking as he/she becomes more familiar with abstract concepts.  We will focus a great deal on responsibility and collaboration as we band together as a group.  The change will be dramatic-just compare a tiny jingle to a musical masterpiece.  That's the kind of ROCKIN'

you'll see this year!

Ways to HELP your child become a ROCK STAR!

ENGAGE your child daily about his/her day.
READ books every night.
CHECK and/or REVIEW your child's homework folder every single day.
Please sort through the homework folder and RETURN
homework and/or notes to me.

I will be using this site instead of sending a newsletter home.  If you do not have internet access, please alert me so I can make a copy for you each Monday.  I revise the site frequently so be sure to stop by often.

I am fortunate to have the opportunity to teach and learn with your precious child this year.  Here's to an exciting and adventurous year in fourth grade!

Love, Mrs. Rose Evans
