Ms. Rose

Dear Parents and Students,

My name is Alison Rose and I am so thrilled to be your child's teacher in first grade. This will be my third year at Patronis Elementary, but my 11th year teaching elementary school. I graduated from Florida Southern College with a Bachelor of Science in Education specializing in Primary and Elementary Education. I began my teaching career in Naples, Florida with the District School Board of Collier County. While there, I taught kindergarten for five years and first grade for three years. I moved to Panama City Beach over two years ago and was fortunate to get a job at Patronis. I have had a great experience here teaching first and second grade. I am extremely excited to move back to first grade.

It is my understanding that your child has already had the seeds of reading and writing planted. During first grade, look forward to a challenging and fun year, as we continue to grow and blossom as accomplished readers and writers. You will see many changes in your child's thinking as he/she becomes more familiar with abstract concepts. The change will be dramatic-just compare a tiny seed to a full-grown sunflower or "rose". That's the kind of growth you'll see this year!

Ways to HELP your child bloom...The loveliest flowers have the best gardeners, and that is you!

ENGAGE your child daily about his/her day.
READ books from reading bags every night.
CHECK and/or REVIEW your child's homework folder every single day.
Please sort through the homework folder and RETURN
homework and/or notes to me.

I will be using this site instead of sending a newsletter home. If you do not have internet access, please alert me so I can make a copy for you each Monday.

I am fortunate to have the opportunity to teach and learn with your precious child this year. Here's to an exciting and adventurous year in first grade!
