Welcome to the official Alamo Heights High School Choir home page! Our school year has begun and we are off to a great start. We are slowing building a quality choral program, 6 - 12 grade here in Heights for our wonderful students. Now in my seventh year, we find that the high school program has more than doubled since I started. We now have 1over 90 students involved in the AHHS Choir program!! And we have established an AP Music Theory course as well, offered to all students enrolled at AHHS.
Our last six years were sustained by some amazing Senior Classes who I believe can look back on such wonderful accomplishments as singing in Carnegie Hall under the direction of John Rutter, performing at Disney World and giving many beautiful performances right here in our own Alamo Heights community. Last year at UIL, our Girls Choir received a "I" on stage in concert and Chorale received the coveted Sweepstakes Award for "I" in both concert and sight reading!
This year, our plans include performing at the Trinity University High School Invitational Choral Festival, seasonal concerts throughout the year, presenting our second annual Renaissance Madrigal Dinner in December, staging a full production of the musical You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown with just AHHS Choir students in the cast, a spring trip to Ft Worth and our Fall Choir Retreat to Mo Ranch. In addition, many other activities will occur, such as caroling on San Antonio River during the holidays and much more.
Much more could be mentioned but I hope you will look through our web site and see what all we offer our students. Be assured that we give our students many opportunities to expand their voices. They can work on audition music for TMEA honor choirs or prepare a solo or ensemble for UIL Solo & Ensemble Competition. They can audition for the choir musical or sing alongside the AHISD Faculty Choir at our Holiday Concert. But most importantly, our program offers students a safe, affirming place to call home while at school.
