This second half of the year, our website continues to be a resource for parents and students, with a calendar of due dates and school functions, news and announcements, requests for involvement, etc.

The web links that are posted are an opportunity for NYOS families to extend what we have learned into your home and community. For example, last quarter we learned about food production. I have posted several related links to increase awareness of how food production techniques affect the planet and our human family. There are also tons of recipes of foods from around the world, and resources for growing, buying, and eating local food.

This quarter, we'll focus on Ancient Civilizations and Greek and Roman root words, read a book about a modern-day demigod, and explore the works of Homer. We'll also hone our skills in writing personal narratives, and learn to identify an author's style based on their use of literary elements.
