Things I MUST remember

when I write a narrative story

1. Hook your reader!!!! Never begin a story with, “One day…” or “Once upon a time…”  Never end a story with. “The end.”

2.  Narratives are personal stories involving you.

3.  Narratives have a beginning, middle, and end. (plot)

4.  Settings and characters are introduced in the beginning.

5.  Do NOT skip lines.  You will have a front and a back of a paper to write for 35 minutes.

6.  Indent new paragraphs.

7.  When do I begin a new paragraph?

 8.  Paragraphs are a must!!!   More than one please!!!

a.  Begin with a great hook (dialogue, onomatopoeia, a fact) in your introduction!

b.  2 to 3 paragraphs in the body

c.  A concluding paragraph is essential!

9.  Always include some kind of figurative language (similes, metaphor, onomatopoeia,etc.)
