|  | Meet our Clinic Monitor, Kelly Sarris! Mrs. Sarris is the person who helps your child with their bumps and bruises, their aches and pains, and dispenses medication at Pitner. Our clinic staff is funded by the state, but our supplies are not! Our clinic is stocked by donations, so you have the opportunity to make a difference for all the children at our school. Check here for supplies that you can send in with your child: - 3 to 5 oz paper cups
- Sandwich size ZipLoc Baggies
- Band-Aids (small or large 2 x4 1/2)
- Telfa pads (non stick Band Aids)
- Tissues
- Cotton balls
- Probe covers for Welch Allyn thermometers
- Peroxide

Mrs. Sarris's reminders: The biggest rule of all: -
Do not send your child to school if they have had fever, vomiting, or diarrhea in the previous 24 hours!!!
"Handwashing is one of the most effective way to reduce catching or spreading an illness. Please remind and encourage your children to wash their hands!" C. All children who show definite signs of illness or injury shall be sent home. Students awaiting parent's arrival shall be isolated if a contagious disease is suspected. 1. Parent Notification When to notify parents: a. Head Injury b. Eye Injury c. Any facial injury d. Fever e. Diarrhea and/or Vomiting f. Unexpected health problem g. Any suspected communicable disease h. Any probable sprained or broken limb i. Any reoccurring complaint j. Poisonous substance ingestion k. Swallowing a smooth or pointed object l. Dog/human bite m. Puncture wound n. Any time emergency medical services have been called 2. Guidelines for Illness a. Diarrhea - Watery stools that occur more than 2 times per school day. The child may not return to school for 24 hours from the time of the last diarrhea stool. If a child has one episode of diarrhea and if other symptoms are present (fever, abdominal discomfort, lethargy, etc.), it will be necessary for the child to be sent home. b. Vomiting - The child may not return to school until child is free of vomiting episodes for 24 hours from the last episode. c. Fever - If a child has a temperature of 100-100.9 degrees F, the clinic assistant must notify parents. It is the parent's decision if the child should remain in school. If a child has a temperature of 101 degreed F or higher, the child must be sent home. The child may not return to school until free of fever for 24 hours. D. Emergency information cards shall be kept on all students. All clinic cards must include: 1. Parent name/s, phone number/s, work number/s, cell phone number/s, and pager number/s (both parents' information, if applicable). 2. Relationship to child and any custody information. 3. Emergency contacts (other than parents) with names and phone numbers. 4. Allergies and medical conditions. 5. Parent Signature. (Form JGC-1 & Form JGC-2 Emergency Information Card) |
