Welcome to the Speech and Language Home Page

The Speech-Language Department at Atlantis Charter School is comprised of Mrs. Kellie Fraser-Garcia, MS CCC/SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist and Mrs. Andrea Archer, BS, Speech-Language Pathology Assistant.  Mrs. Garcia identifies and evaluates students who may need assistance with articulation or phonological development, receptive or expressive language development, hearing and/or auditory processing difficulties, fluency or voice issues, oral motor development and social/pragmatic language issues.  Both Mrs. Garcia and Mrs. Archer work with children identified as needing speech and language therapy.

The majority of our students are pulled from the whole group classroom setting into a small group setting in order to work intensively on their areas of need.  Our speech sessions are structured much in the same way as any other class.  Students are provided with a fun, creative, safe and nurturing environment in which they strive to achieve their speech and language goals.  Some of our students also receive inclusion services inside of the classroom setting in order to assist them with carry over of skills they have learned through participating in direct speech language therapy services.

Please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Garcia if you have any concerns or questions regarding speech and language services.  We are here to help and would love to hear from you!!  Our email addresses are: kgarc@atlanticcs.org (Mrs. Garcia) and afurt@atlantiscs.org (Mrs. Archer).

Please look at our sub pages for more important information regarding speech therapy services, recent speech activities, ideas to promote speech and language development at home and links to other helpful websites.
