Upcoming Events:
February 3 – Family Movie Night at the Upper Site in the cafeteria. Admission is $1. Doors open at 6:00, movie begins at 6:30. Pizza, popcorn, water & juice will be available for purchase at the concession stand. Whole pepperoni or cheese pizzas are available to pre-order for $10. Ticket forms will be available in the main office at both sites. We need about 6 volunteers for the concession stand/ tickets for this event.
February 10 – Father & Daughter Dance at White’s of Westport. Tickets are $25 per couple (1 dad with 1 daughter), with additional daughters $10 each. The cost is higher this year because we had to move it to White’s to accommodate everyone who wants to attend. Dinner is Italian family-style: salad, pasta and sauce, chicken parmesan, corn, rolls, soda & an ice cream bar dessert. Tickets will not be available at the door. Ticket forms are available in the main office at both sites. Volunteers are not needed for this event.
February 14 – 6th Grade Spelling Bee at Global Learning Charter Public School in New Bedford. The top 10 6th grade spellers from ACS will compete against the top 10 6th grade spellers from GLCPS to see who will take home the travelling trophy. This event is by invitation only.
Fundraising:
Box Tops – A CS received a check for $1451.53 for Box Tops submitted between April and October 2011. The funds raised through Box Tops are used to continue the Birthday Book program at the Lower Site. Box Tops can be found on many products (a complete list is available on our fundraising page) and can be sent in to school at any time. Please be sure your child’s homeroom is on the bag/collection sheet. The class in each building who raises the most wins an ice cream party in June!
KidStuff Books – this is a new program that we are looking into. KidStuff books are coupon books with hundreds of area retailers, restaurants, and entertainment venues participating. The books would be sent home with each student in September. Books would sell for $25, with the school keeping $12.50 per book. Parents at this meeting approved of the books and would like to see us give it a try. Check out the website http://www.kidstuffcouponbook.com/ for more info and to see what’s in the book.
