Dear Parents,

This is my fifth year at Atlantis, and I am so excited to be teaching your child math this year! I know that fourth grade is going to be a great year!  There are so many fun things to do and learn in math, and I can't wait to get started!

You are cordially invited to be

a partner in your child’s education.

Stay-Tuned:  Ask your child what he or she is studying, and look in the his/her folder every night.  The folder is where you will find the things that we are working on in class and any notes that are sent home, as well as any homework that needs to be completed.  This website will help you keep up with important happenings in our classroom.  I will also send home progress report notes or make phone calls if I feel that your child is not progressing as expected or if I have something GREAT to share!

Ask Questions:  If you have any concerns or are wondering why something is happening, please feel free to call or email me at any time.  I welcome all concerns, ideas, and thoughts that affect your child or our classroom.   If something is not working, I am more than willing to talk.  I welcome all feedback.  You can contact me by phone at the school (508) 672-1821; email at the school tkenn@atlantiscs.org or home email tkennefick@verizon.net

Homework:  You should expect that your child will have homework everyday.  You will always find the homework assignments written in their classroom agenda because it will be their responsibility to write it down each day when they come to class with me.  It will go home everyday.  I encourage you to set up, with your child, a scheduled time for homework each day.   Students should be able to do all of the assignments independently.  They should be bringing home their notebook and folder every night because that is where their notes and information will be that can help them with their homework.  If you notice that your child is not able to do an assignment on his or her own, please send a note or jot a note to me on the assignment (but I do not expect that this should happen often because they will be taught everything they need in class).  I will contact you if your child is falling behind or turning in poor work.

Arrival Time:  I also would like to request that students arrive to school on time.  On many days your child will have math class with me starting at 8:15.  They will need time to get organized with materials before coming to me and time to pass in the hallways.  It is critical that your child arrives to school on time so they do not miss any portion of our 45 minutes together.  It is equally important that you try not to dismiss them early for the same reason because they may have their math class as the very last class of the day.

I look forward to working with you as the year continues!

Yours in Education,

ToniAnne Kennefick
