Trimester 3 skills and objectives:

1. Fractions

  • Identify and represent fractions between 0 and 1 as parts of wholes and parts of groups
  • Locate and compare fractions and mixed numbers on a number line
  • Use models to add and subtract common fractions (with like denominators)

2. Geometry

  • Compare and analyze properties of 2-dimensional shapes
  • Model, draw, and classify 2-dimensional shapes
  • Identify and describe simple 3-dimensional shapes
  • Identify angles as right, less than right, and greater than right angles
  • Identify and draw parallel, perpendicular, and other intersecting lines
  • Use ordered pairs to locate points on a grid
  • Identify and draw lines of symmetry in 2-dimensional shapes
  • Predict results of combining and taking apart 2-dimensional shapes

3. Measurement

  • Estimate and find area and perimeter of a rectangle
  • Identify time to the minute on a clock and compute elapsed time less than an hour on a clock and using a calendar
  • Carry out simple unit conversions
  • Understand units of measurement
