HAPPY WINTER!! (even though it feels more like spring...) In ELA, we are progressing through our practice of long composition writing. We are also continuing to prepare for our next ANET test (coming the week after holiday break). In reading, we are more than halfway done with Stargirl. We have been discussing the themes of friendship, individuality, and being true to yourself--regardless of what other people think. I will update this site with new pictures as soon as I remember to bring in my camera to take some!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me at nicholas.andolfo@atlantiscs.org
ALSO, BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE STUDENTS OF THE MONTH IN THE CLASSROOM NEWS SECTION OF THIS SITE!!
Your blueprint for success 1. Respect: For each other. For our surroundings. For new ideas, even if you do not agree with them. 2. Effort: Concentrate on giving your best effort each day. We all have days where nothing seems to go right, but that is no excuse to give up. If you do your best as often as you can, you will do well in my class. 3. Preparedness: Be prepared for class each day. Be sure to have a pen/pencil, your notebook, your book and any assignments that are due. 4. Honesty: Be honest. Don’t take shortcuts. If you make a mistake, and everyone does, take responsibility and learn from it. 5. Always be on time: Sorry to inform you, but the real world has deadlines and consequences for missing those deadlines. My class will be no different! Don’t be late to class and always try to have assignments done on time. 6. Have a sense of humor: It is important to find and appreciate the funny things in life. One of the most important character traits to have is the ability to laugh at ourselves sometimes. Don’t take yourself too seriously. You’re not going to feel too good about yourself if you beat yourself up for every little mistake. 7. YOU and only YOU are responsible for any work you miss while you are out of school. I will not chase you down to tell you what you owe. You must approach me for your missed assignments. Again, welcome to the real world! 8. NO BLURTING: I am interested in all of your ideas, but raise your hand if you want to speak and do not interrupt another student who is sharing his/her ideas. Oh, and since there was no cool looking English or Reading background that I could choose for this page, I went with the "GO GREEN" theme...so on a non-literary note, always remember to recycle!
