Classroom Expectations Expectations

Below you will find some helpful information about our fourth grade expectations.

Attendance:

As you have been informed, all students are expected to be in school by 7:55 am. Late slips will start to be passed out at 7:56 am. This time change is important to ensure that all classroom teachers have enough time to have Morning Meeting. Morning Meeting is an important component of the Responsive Classroom approach that the school is taking. It is a great way to set a positive tone to the day! To read more about Morning Meeting please refer to the subpage on this website.

If your child is tardy it is difficult to come in and take care of the morning routine to get ready for morning meeting. Please have your child to school at the proper time. If your child is absent from school it can be difficult to make up missed work. Lessons can't be taken home so it is really in your child's best interests to be present.

Early dismissals:

Early dismissals have a great impact on your child. We have instruction up to the last minute and many times there is important information that needs to be given out at the end of the day.

Please, if at all possible, try not to dismiss your child early. I know there are times it can’t be helped, and if that is the case please remind your child that they need to check in with me to find out if they missed anything important.

Agendas:

At Atlantis we require that agendas are signed nightly. Your signature lets me know that you have checked your child’s homework for accuracy and neatness. Your signature goes right at the bottom of the page under each day of the week. Please feel free to also use the agenda as a communication tool with me.

Being Prepared:

I expect your child to be prepared each day. Being prepared includes having your homework and all the materials you need for the day. It also includes getting all of those materials in the morning and bringing them into the classroom.

If you are absent:

When your child is absent it is their responsibility to come in and look at the materials on their desk. Any mail or work will always be placed on the desk. When someone is out, depending on the length of time, we will discuss the due date for the work that needs to be made up.
