Van Horne Elementary Title One Mrs.Amy Becker Reading & Math Instructor

 Welcome to the new reading/math website, My Reading & Math World. It has been created by Mrs. Amy Becker. This site is designed to provide information about the K-2 Title One Reading & Math Program at Van Horne Elementary and also to help beginning readers and their parents find support and materials to help their children as they learn to read and to use numbers.

The Title One Reading and Math program at Benton Community has been in place for over thirty years. It is a program sponsored by the federal government to help students who are delayed in learning reading and math.

  My name is Amy Becker. I have taught for thirty years at Benton Community. Twenty of those years have been spent teaching reading and math skills to delayed students. I have a master's degree, an early childhood and a reading endorsement to help me teach delayed students.

At this time, most of you know that this is my last year teaching at Benton Community. After 33 years of teaching I have decided to retire and pursue other interests. I may do some substitute teaching and tutoring.

My years working at Benton Community have been richly rewarding. I have met many, many wonderful people while working here: students, parents, teachers and support staff. Each of you has made my time at Benton a genuine pleasure.

The Chapter teacher that is replacing me has worked at Keystone teaching Chapter Reading and Math. I'm very impressed with her knowledge of reading and I believe she will be a great replacement. Her name is Samantha Bringham. She will be starting at Van Horne next fall.
