Take Action in New York: Call the Members of the Senate Codes Committee Today
Autism Votes... It's time for lawmakers to listen.
June 1, 2010
The effort to require health insurance to cover autism treatment continues to gain momentum nationwide. Twenty states have now passed meaningful autism insurance reform laws with two more bills sitting on their respective governor’s desks awaiting signature. It truly is an exciting time in the autism insurance reform movement!
S.7000A, the New York autism insurance bill, is moving forward as well, with a vote scheduled in the Senate Codes Committee this coming Wednesday. This legislation will require health insurers to cover evidence-based treatments for New York health insurance plans governed by state law and will open the door to access to care for many families across the state. Passage will likely not be an easy task during this difficult budgetary climate, so legislators need to know that this is an issue that matters to their constituents.
Here is How YOU Can Help:
1. Call ALL of the members of the Senate Codes Committee TODAY and ask them to vote YES on S.7000A. Be polite and persistent. Let them know that this legislation means a great deal to you and your family. Tell them that autism is a treatable condition and that it’s time for health insurance to cover treatment in New York.
